Looking Forward...
So I did my 2011 round-up post. Now to look forward into 2012.
Just a quick side FYI - I will be saying "two thousand and twelve." Maybe at a push, I might drop the "and" but I will NOT be saying "twenty twelve" even if we have been saying "nineteen..." whatever for the last thousand years. Just... no.
Anyway, on with the post... things I've got to look forward to.
Holidays.
I've got a couple lined up this year:
- The first is yet another trip to the States, but this time, there is no Twilight involved, unless by complete accident. The point is, I'm not going for a convention or anything. Just going over there for a week to stay with some great friends and have fun in Chicago and New York. I cannot wait. (There is another thing included in this that I am very much looking forward to, but that will come under a second heading.)
- Second holiday is a family cruise around the Baltic with S, P and H, my parents and my aunt. Will be lovely and I can't wait. This will be our third cruise, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Unless you get seasick, it's the perfect choice. A self-contained holiday with everything you can think of included AND you get to sample a variety of places too.
- This is still tentative. My mum wants to Christmas shopping in New York City. Originally the trip was going to be my mum, my two sisters-in-law and me, but I'm not sure now. I still definitely want to go though so I'm hoping she will still want to as
Film and Theatre
Lots of great stuff going on this year in the film world. The Hunger Games, Snow White and the Huntsman and Twilight Saga : Breaking Dawn Part 2 (oh how I wish there was a trailer!) to name but a few. It's also a good year for the Marvel Universe, with The Avengers and, although not strictly a Marvel venture with Sony at the helm, The Amazing Spider-man reboot being released as well. Now, I'm not really that big of a remake fan. In fact, usually, I would avoid them like the plague unless there has been at LEAST a 20 year gap from the original (although, I'm making an exception for Girl With The Dragon Tattoo just to see if watching without subtitles will make a difference) and I normally wouldn't go near a Spidey remake with a ten-foot webslinger BUT when the all new Spider-man is being played by my new favourite guy, Andrew Garfield, how can I resist? Here are my two favourite Spidey related vids:

That's just a few of the films I am looking forward to. One other thing I am EXTREMELY excited about is my trip to Broadway. No, no. I'm not acting there, because that would be ridiculous (and a dream come true!) but I am going to be seeing a certain Mr Andrew Garfield (OMGHUGEBIGMASSIVESQUEE) and Philip Seymour Hoffman, which is also pretty bloody awesome, in Death of a Salesman during its 16 week Broadway run while I'm in NYC in April. I have my ticket already and I will be standing by the stagedoor afterwards to in an attempt to get an autograph on my programme too! That would be amazing!
Work and Family
I can never really tell what's going to happen with work. My biggest hope is that things will continue to go well and that my members will keep getting to their goals. I have two meetings that I would like to have alongside the one I run now, but I'm happy concentrating on this one for now. I would love to build it up and make it really successful and my hope is that by the time September rolls around (a pretty big event in the Weight Watchers' work calendar) I might be able to have another string in my bow.
Oh, and I know I talked about that Weight Watchers advert that was coming out on New Year's Day, and all the many negative comments it received. Well, I have now seen it, watched it, posted it, downloaded it and shared it as much as I can because I think it's wonderful.
People were complaining because Alesha Dixon, the lady who wrote the song, has never had a weight problem (the previous advert was set to a song by Kylie. Erm...) Not that I think it matters at ALL, but as it happens she only features in the video for a matter of seconds and I for one didn't even look at her because I was too busy being wowed by everyone else! See what you think:

The lyrics of the song are based on comments made by Weight Watchers members :)
P is going back to school tomorrow. She's looking forward to it, and as much as I hate getting up so early, I'm looking forward to it as well because it means routine. MORE scary is that H starts pre-school on Monday. That's crazy. I don't know how she got so old so fast. I can barely remember her being a baby.
As for me and S... we shall continue on our own little adventure ;) The "nice" thing (I use inverted commas there because it's kind of a bittersweet nice) is that I literally found out today that we're not the only ones that went/are going through that kind of thing and it's nice to be able to reassure and offer some advice.
As for the rest of the year, I am certain there will be more things a-coming, but I like to wait and see what life throws my way. Most of the time.
