Christmas Cheer
I will at least start with something cheery before I descend into rants. Hehe.
Somehow, 2011 has been a speeding train whipping past before my eyes and I have barely had time to sit and get pissed on the bottle of wine we were given LAST Christmas, and now it's December again.
But... aside from the mind-numbingly boring task of writing Christmas cards x infinity, it's all good stuff to come this year. We (and by we, I mean my husband S and my two daughters P & H and me) will be having our first Christmas lunch at home on our own for 10 years - well 33 years for me - and we are getting the house readied for that.
The presents are bought (though not yet wrapped) the tree is up and decorations are all about the house. I even found myself singing along happily to the Christmas songs on the radio too!
I think the fact that I didn't see it coming has totally worked to my advantage. Or its advantage. Either way, I'm quite excited.
It's been fun explaining to P and H about how when we see Father Christmas in a shop it might be the real one or it might be a designated helper, depending how busy the Big Man is that day... keeps them guessing.
And I can't say I didn't get a little teary-eyed seeing P in her first school play today, playing a snowflake. She has terrible stage fright and usually won't even stand up, but she did EVERYTHING she was supposed to, even sang her little heart out. It was amazing.
And I haven't even heard "Fairytale of New York" yet, So yes. I'm still cheery. Not converting to Festivus just yet. (Although I know Cat is seriously considering it this year!)

Oh and just before I leave you... here is MY favourite Christmas song.
